Chapter will be 42 pages long with color

The official website of Shueisha's Men's Non-nomen's fashion magazine announced on Friday that Sui Ishida will publish a redrawn version of "Higeki" (Tragedy), the first chapter of his Tokyo Ghoul manga, in a pamphlet included with the magazine's October issue on September 10. The chapter will be 42 pages long, and will include color art.

The above image shows the original color illustration from the original first chapter on the right, and Ishida's redrawn version on the left. When asked why he is redrawing the first chapter, Ishida said that he was thinking of a way to reach people who had not yet read the manga, and settled on the remake.

The magazine will also publish an interview with Ishida, as well as Masataka Kubota andFumika Shimizu, the lead actors for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of the manga, in the same issue.

Viz publishes the manga in North America, and it describes the story:

Ghouls live among us, the same as normal people in every way - except their craving for human flesh. Shy Ken Kaneki is thrilled to go on a date with the beautiful Rize. But it turns out that she's only interested in his body - eating it, that is. When a morally questionable rescue transforms him into the first half-human half-Ghoul hybrid, Ken is drawn into the dark and violent world of Ghouls, which exists alongside our own.

Ishida serialized Tokyo Ghoul in Shueisha'sWeekly Young Jump from 2011 to 2014, and is now serializing Tokyo Ghoul:re. Viz released the original manga's seventh volume on June 21.Tokyo Ghoul inspired two anime series, severaloriginal video anime projects, PlayStation Vita and smartphone games, and a stage play. The live-action film is slated for summer 2017.
