With England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) agreeing to go ahead with the Bangladesh tour, the focus of the English players have shifted from the ongoing One-Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan.
Jos Buttler, England wicketkeeper, who spoke to the press ahead of the second ODI at Lord's said: "It was a positive meeting last night with lots of information to digest. Its tricky for us at the moment. Weve got a game tomorrow."
The fate of Bangladesh tour was hanging in balance for long following a terror attack in a Dhaka cafe on July 1 which had left 20 dead. However, following several meetings and security checks by the ECB-appointed security committee the series is set to take place as scheduled. The decision was taken following a final meeting between ECB's security adviser Reg Dickason, accompanied by director of cricket operations John Carr and David Leatherdale of the Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA)
"There are things that people have probably never even considered before about cricket, and things people probably didn't realise went on for every single tour we go on," Buttler said on Friday (August 26). "They are normally never privy to these conversations behind the scenes."
This isn't the first time that England will be visiting a country following terror attacks. In 2008, England left mid-way through the ODI series against India following attacks in Mumbai, only to return for the Test series.
"It's probably new ground for a lot of people, some guys in the meeting - Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook - were part of the team that went back to India in 2008, so have been in this situation before and probably know how to deal with it. But it's new ground for people and it's important we try to deal with it the best we can," he added.
The English players are allowed to not tour if they don't feel secured. While Buttler, who is a regular pick in England's limited-overs squad, maintained that the discussion with the team management was 'positive', he didn't divulge whether he would be willing to go on the tour.
However, he maintained that he would look to concentrate on the ongoing series at the moment. "We've got a game tomorrow and international cricket needs your full focus to perform well. There was lot to digest which is tough to do mid-series - there's no good time for these things to happen - but they have to be discussed. It's paramount we are as professional as we can be and think about it when we can, but 11am tomorrow is not the time."
