An explosive batter and handy medium-pacer, Dottin will be making a move from Perth Scorchers, who she represented in the inaugural season of the league in 2015-16.
Dottin said she was looking forward to playing in WBBL again and her maiden stint with Brisbane. "The first season of the WBBL was fun to be involved in,'' she said. "I am excited about playing in Australia again, and getting to know Brisbane.
"I have played against some of the (Heat) girls and am looking forward to getting to know them when we all assemble for the start of the tournament," Dottin added.
The 25-year-old was a vital cog in the West Indies' team that won their maiden T20 WC title in April earlier this year. She scored 129 runs in the six games and finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker with nine scalps - including a crucial 2 for 33 in the final against three-time champions Australia.
"Deandra's batting is very well suited to T20. She's a powerful hitter with a sound technique,'' said Andy Richards, Heats' head coach.
"Her international playing experience will complement our squad and she has a knack of getting key wickets when she bowls. We're looking forward to having her here and showcasing her skills for the fans."
Dottin, who made her Twenty20 International debut against Ireland Women's in June 2008, became the first women cricketer to hit a century in T20 WC and still holds the record for the fastest T20I hundred (38 balls) by any cricketer, male or female. Her unbeaten knock of 112 off just 40 deliveries against South Africa at the 2010 event put her on the map. The 88-match veteran has another nine half-centuries against her name.
At the recently concluded first season of Women's Super League in England, Dottin played for Lancashire Thunder. She scored 87 runs and picked up seven wickets in five games.
