Newbie FTA channel Zee Anmol Cinema breaks into the top 5 in Week 36
Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd’s (ZEEL) newly launched free-to-air (FTA) Hindi movie channel Zee Anmol Cinema entered the top 5 rankings, according to BARC data for the week ended 9 September. Zee Anmol Cinema was launched on 1 September, which fell in the 35th week of BARC ratings for the period 27 August to 2 September this year. Week 36 was the first full week data for the channel. Zee Anmol Cinema, pitched against Star Utsav Movies, Sony Wah and Rishtey Cineplex, has emerged as the biggest launch in the FTA movie genre with 189,831 GTVTs in the rural Hindi-speaking markets (HSM), ZEEL said quoting BARC data.
The most-watched movies include a mix of old and new titles like ‘Ganga Jamuna Saraswati’, ‘Singh is Bling’, ‘Diljale’, ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Gadar’ (HSM Rural; NCCS 4+, Week 36), ZEEL said. Zee Anmol displaced Movies OK from the fifth position. Star Gold returned to the No. 2 position, pushing Zee Cinema to the third position. Sony Max and Sony Wah were at the first and fourth positions respectively.
