Mumbai : Hindi GEC SAB TV’s tent-pole show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ has created another milestone by completing its 2,000th episode.
Produced by Neela Tele Films and created by Asit Kumar Modi (MD), ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ is based on the column ‘Duniya Ne Oondha Chashma’ written by journalist and columnist Taarak Mehta for Gujarati weekly magazine ‘Chitralekha’.
The show recently secured a place in the Limca Book of records as the ‘Longest-Running Comedy Show’.
Every story on the show is woven with some amount of social messaging and moral values. The episodes take the viewers through the journey of the residents of Gokuldham Society, which is based in suburban Mumbai.
The story follows the life of Jethalal Gada who has a knack for landing himself into trouble leading to hilarious situations. The cast of the show was also nominated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to propagate and create awareness for his brainchild ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyan’.
On the occasion of completing its 2000th episode, Sony Pictures Network India (SPNI) senior EVP and SAB TV business head Anooj Kapoor said, “It is a feeling of pride for us to have one of the longest-running comedy shows on our channel. It has been a great journey for us, ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ completing 2,000 episodes and still going strong only proves and strengthens our brand conviction of ‘Asli Mazaa Sab Ke Saath Aata Hain’. We would like to thank the viewers for their constant love and support.”
“I would like to thank Sony Pictures (Sony SAB) and my cast and crew for all the support they have given to achieve this milestone. But most of all, I have to thank my audience for the constant love and inspiration showered on us and pushing us to accomplish yet better stories and better values. Reaching 2,000 episodes, that too while remaining at the top of comedy shows across channels constantly, is an amazing feeling. Believe me, we still have many untold stories and unexplored characters to be brought in the lives of Gokuldham Society residents. We still have a long way to go. As nominated by our honourable Prime Minister, we are also proud to be associated with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,” said Asit Kumar Modi.
