Sony India has announced a marketing budget of Rs 150 crore for the ensuing festive season of Aug-Nov 2016 and Rs 420 crore for 2016-2017. The information was revealed by the managing director of the company during his visit to promote Sony India's business in Bengaluru and Karnataka.

As the festive season in India is approaching near, Sony India has announced that it has set up a marketing budget of Rs 150-crore for the festive season and for the entire year the company has set a target of Rs 420 crore. Sony India’s managing director Kenichiro Hibi said “The festive period of August-November is an important period for us to further enhance our sales. The marketing budget for this year’s festive season will be 150 crore, besides Rs 420 crore for the whole year”. The company is expecting a positive growth this festive season considering it would see major sports events like New Zealand and England home series against India. To a query, he said this year Sony is aiming 25% growth in customer audio and video segments across India.”These cricketing events, especially the home series, boosts sales of television sets in India, unlike when it doesn’t motivate customers when there are no sporting events,” he said.

“This year, we are projecting to make 25% sales growth in audio and video segment across India and Karnataka region should be bigger than that,” he told reporters earlier. Sony is planning a shift in India strategy, to sell only ‘premium’ smartphones. Answering another query, Hibi said Karnataka is the major market for Sony India contributing 10-15% growth annually. “The total contribution of Karnataka to Sony India is 10-15% annually. This is one of the major markets because we have 25 branches,” he said.

Also, the growth ratio compared to other states is the biggest for Karnataka, he said. However, Maharashtra is on par with this neighbouring state with similar growth charts, Hibi said. “The growth ratio of Karnataka is the biggest compared to other states. However, Maharashtra is registering similar growth, but Karnataka is clearly leading at this moment,” he added.

The company is doing good business in the premium segment of Bengaluru market because it is able to match the technological demands of the people in the city, which is the IT hub of India, Hibi said. “The potential of Bengaluru market is good. We are doing good business here because it is IT hub and customers seek good technology and the company is able to match to their demands,” he said.

“Not only in Bengaluru, but also the company sees continuous growth in other parts of Karnataka like Mysuru, Hubli and Mangaluru markets as well,” Hibi said.

Mumbai :She is sugar, spice and all things nice… But this Haryanavi girl Komal a.k.a ‘Badho’ (played by Rytasha Rathore) is bold and a little too big in size! With dreams of marriage in her eyes, all Komal desires from life is a loving husband and respect in her sasuraal!

But destiny had something else in store for Badho…!, With a twist of fate, Badho ends up marrying the most eligible bachelor – Haryana’s star wrestler Lucky Singh Ahlawat (played by Prince Narula). But will Badho find the love she desires in her husband? Rest as her journey gets chronicled as Badho Bahu starting 12th September, every Monday – Friday at 9:30 PM only on &TV.

Produced by Sunny Side Up films and Hum Tum Telefilms Pvt. Ltd, &TV’s latest offering Badho Bahu, is set against the backdrop of Haryana, known to produce some of the best Indian players across various sports. ‘Hatti-Katti’ Komal who is lovingly called as ‘Badho’ (which means ‘too much’ in Haryanavi) is a spunky yet simple girl who like her size has a very big heart. In her bumbling ways, she lands herself helping most people in her town. While Badho is well known for her bigness, Lucky Singh Ahlawat is the most celebrated wrestler in the town. In what seems like a major celestial controversy, Badho is married to Lucky. What follows next is a sincere effort by Badho to win over her husband.

Rytasha Rathore who plays the titular character Komal, aka ‘Badho’ in the show says, “Badho is a character we can all identify with – there is innocence, vulnerability, spunk and a whole myriad of feelings. I’m excited to be playing her because it gives me the chance to do things I wouldn’t do otherwise. The show itself has a lot of warmth and heart to it which I hope the audience enjoys and appreciates. It’s entertaining while also having a deeper meaning.”

Prince Narula who plays Lakha Singh Ahlawat aka ‘Lucky’ says, “This will be my first attempt at daily soap, so I wanted to take up a show that had unique content which is different from what you see on television these days. I am playing a very challenging character ‘Lucky Singh Ahlawat’ who is a gold medalist wrestler. I have undergone wrestling workshops and followed a strict diet as well. Rytasha and I will be seen as the television’s unconventional couple and I hope the audience appreciates our efforts.”

In addition to the stellar cast of Prince Narula, Rytasha Rathore and Pankaj Dheer the show includes names like Jaya Ojha, Arhaan Khan and Sangeeta Panwar. Shot across the beautiful towns of Haryana, the show also boasts of a great production and enthralling storytelling that will have the audiences enthralled.

Samsung announced the ‘A series’ smartphone back in 2015, which consisted of the Galaxy A3 (2016), Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016). The three smartphones came with a metal frame and glass back, similar to last year’s Galaxy S6 smartphones. Now, it is being reported that the next-generation Galaxy A series of smartphones are under development, and the Galaxy A5 (2017) has been spotted on benchmarking website Geekbench. Interestingly, a smartphone with the same model number has also been spotted on Indian import-export site Zauba.

The Galaxy A5 (2017) has been spotted on Geekbench by Sammobile revealing that the smartphone might be powered by an Exynos 7880 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone will run Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out-of-the-box. The Exynos 7880 is an octa-core processor with four 1.87GHz Cortex-A72 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.3GHz, paired with Mali-T860MP4 GPU. Rest of the details are not clear at the moment. From what reports say, the Galaxy A5 (2017) will come with slightly upgraded specifications as compared to that of 2016 variant of the Galaxy A5.

Speaking of which, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) came with a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) display and was powered by an octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. It also featured a 13-megapixel rear camera with OIS, a front-facing 5-megapixel camera, 2,900mAh battery and connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, GPS and NFC.

In addition to the Galaxy A5, Samsung is also believed to be working on the next-generation Galaxy A3 (2017) and the Galaxy A7 (2017) smartphones. The company however had only launched the Galaxy A5 and A7 in India, priced at Rs 29,400 and Rs 33,400 respectively. The upcoming smartphones could also be launched in India with a similar price tag.

In the meanwhile, Samsung recently launched the Tizen-based Z2 smartphone in India earlier this month. The Samsung Z2 is priced at Rs 4,590 and comes with features like a 4-inch WVGA (800×480 pixels) display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, and a microSD card. The smartphone also comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, VGA camera, 1,500mAh battery and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB OTG support.

South Africa have completed yet another series win against New Zealand after a comprehensive victory in the series decider at the Super Sport Park in Centurion. After being set a target of 400 to win in the fourth innings, New Zealand wilted to 7 for 4 before folding for 195. Dale Steyn was one again the thorn in the flesh for the Black Caps taking 5 for 33 in the second innings, taking his match tally to 8 for 99. Quinton de Kock was awarded Man of the Match for his twin fifties and six dismissals in the match.
Stat highlights from the last two days of the second Test in Centurion:
204 Winning margin for South Africa, the highest for them (in terms of runs) against New Zealand. The only higher margin was by 358 runs in Johannesburg in 2007.
4 Wicketkeepers scoring fifty or more twice in a Test while opening the batting. The ones to do it before Quinton de Kock in this Test were Dick Spooner against India in 1951 , Farokh Engineer against England in 1973 and Kamran Akmal against South Africa in Lahore in 2007.
3 Wicketkeepers scoring fifty or more twice in a Test match for South Africa. John Waite did it twice - against Australia in Johannesburg in 1957 and England at Edgbaston in 1960 and Denis Lindsay against Australia in Johannesburg in 1966.
3 Scores of fifty or more for de Kock in Tests in Centurion. His scores here read 18 not out, 129 not out, 9 not out, 82 and 50. In the eight Tests elsewhere, he has just two fifties.
363 Difference in runs scored by South Africa's top in the first and second innings. They scored 393 in the first and 63 in the second. De Kock scored 50 while none of the other four managed to get to double figures.
4 Instances of both openers getting dismissed for golden ducks in the same innings. Herbert Sutcliffe and Eddie Paynter against New Zealand in 1933 , Mohsin Khan and Mudassar Nazar against England in 1982 and Marvan Atapattu and Sanath Jayasuriya against South Africa in 2000 are the only previous instances before Tom Latham and Martin Guptill in New Zealand's second innings.
2 Dale Steyn became the second bowler to dismiss two opening batsmen from the opposition for golden ducks after Bob Willis against Pakistan in Leeds in 1982.
1 run scored in this Test by Ross Taylor is his lowest aggregate in a Test match. The previous lowest when he batted twice was eight against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi in 2014 . In seven innings in South Africa he has scored just 47 runs with a highest score of 17.
7 It is the lowest score for which New Zealand have lost their first four wickets in an innings. The previous lowest was 14 runs against England in Auckland in 1955, when they were eventually bowled out for 26 - the lowest ever total in Test cricket.
3 Instances of three of New Zealand's top four getting dismissed for ducks in the same innings. It happened against Pakistan in Wellington in 1973 and against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2006 before today.
68-run stand between Henry Nicholls and BJ Watling is the second highest fifth wicket stand for any team after losing their first four wickets inside 10 runs. The only higher stand was 86 between Carl Hooper and Richie Richardson against Australia in Brisbane in 1992.
76 by Nicholls is the highest score for him in Tests eclipsing 59 he made on his debut against Australia in Wellington earlier this year. It is the third highest for a New Zealand batsman batting at No. 5 or below in the second innings in South Africa after 142 by John Reid in 1962 and 78 by Craig McMillan in 2000.
56 Wickets taken by Dale Steyn in Tests at SuperSport Park in Centurion - the most by any bowler. Steyn picked up his fourth five-wicket haul here and averages just 17.12. The only other bowler to take 50-plus wickets at the venue is Makhaya Ntini who has 54 wickets from 10 Tests at 21.22.
68 Wickets for Steyn against New Zealand in 12 Tests, the fourth most for any bowler. His average of 16.04 is the best for any bowler against them with a minimum of 50 wickets. He has taken more wickets only against one opposition - 69 against Australia in 14 matches.
13 Consecutive Test matches where South Africa have gone undefeated against New Zealand - the joint most for them against a particular opposition. The last time New Zealand beat them in a Test was in Auckland in 2004.
0 Instances of New Zealand winning a series against South Africa in 15 attempts. All other teams (excluding Zimbabwe and Bangladesh) has beaten every other opponent at least in one series. They have lost all but one out of eight rubbers in South Africa.

Star India will not be charging any subscription fee from DTH and cable TV operators for its newly launched HD sports channels Star Sports Select HD1 and HD2, as part of its promotional offer until 31 July 2017.

Star Sports Select HD 1 and HD2, which were launched on 10 August, are priced at Rs 35 each on reference interconnection offer (RIO).

Star’s Telugu HD GEC Maa HD is also part of the promotional offer.

Star’s HD bouquet, which comprises 21 channels, is priced at Rs 380.67 on RIO basis. However, the bouquet rate will be Rs 317.33 per subscriber per month until 31 July 2017 after factoring in the promotional offer.

The promotional offer will ensure that the distribution platform operators (DPOs) do not have to charge additional subscription fee from their HD customers for the new channels.

Based on Star’s new RIO, distribution platforms can avail discounts on the existing RIO bouquets depending on their subscriber base as well as the LCN and penetration they provide to the company’s HD channels.

Star Sports HD1 and HD2 have been created by transferring all non-cricket international sports content owned by the broadcaster from Star Sports 4 and Star Sports HD4.

The two channels will be exclusive home of the Premier League, Bundesliga, Grand Slam Tennis and Formula 1. International sports will be available on Star Sports and their mirror HD channels until 31 October, following which Star Sports HD channels will become the exclusive viewing destination for these events.

Non-HD subscribers will need to take an HD connection to access these events from 1 November.

The broadcaster plans to offer a viewing experience that ensures more matches, increased behind-the-scenes access and in-depth analysis as part of its programming strategy for the HD channels.

Star will also increase the television coverage for the Premier League to over 270 matches. Star’s video-on-demand (VoD) service Hotstar recently launched a premium subscription service for the English Premier League (EPL) for a monthly fee of Rs 199.

The service is available for free on a one-month trial basis.
