DishTV adds 32 educational channels to its bouquet

Providing better quality entertainment to its subscribers and offering value for their money is DishTV. The DTH brand has taken its total count to more than 585 channels and services. It has reportedly added 32 new educational channels launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The content of the 32 channels is unique in order to provide maximum information through the visual medium. The educational channels are available from channel number 2001 to 2032 on DishTV and Zing.
DishTV CEO Arun Kumar Kapoor said, “We support the Government’s initiative of driving education through TV sets, and are delighted that these educational channels from the Ministry of Human Resource Development are available to all DishTV subscribers. We feel proud and contented at the same time as we are reaching a new milestone of having more than 585 channels and services on our platform."
With the focus on using space technology to expand reach, these channels will offer high quality educational content to all subscribers designed by central universities such as Jamia Millia Islamia, Punjabi University, IGNOU, Kashmir University and other leading educational institutions.
The service will also offer telecast of live classroom lectures from top-notch institutions including the prestigious IITs.

Indian Cable Television Distribution Company Den Network Limited and Disney India’s gaming arm Indiagames have launched ‘Fun Games,’ a subscription based gaming service. The service will offer a range of exciting games from the catalogue of Indiagames branded titles.
Den Networks CEO SN Sharma said, “Disney India is to launch exciting games for kids under the name of Den Fun Games.’’
Further, he emphasized, “At Den, we give the best value for money by using the most advanced technology."
“Today, MSOs reach out to major population in India and, by collaborating with Den, we are able to popularize our gaming content amongst them,” said Disney India - interactive, VP and head, Sameer Ganapathy.
Den's Fun Games offers three games which will be refreshed regularly for players to acquire new skills. The games include Egg Jump, Mailbox and Tower of Hanoi and are available for monthly Rs 45 and quarterly Rs 90 subscriptions.

BBH India showcases why Channel V is the ‘shallowest place on TV
BBH India has rolled out its latest campaign for Channel V India. The campaign supersedes Channel V’s latest rebranding initiative to become a 24-hour all music channel, with curated content that not only sounds good but also looks good. Delivering an unparalleled visual experience is Channel V’s sole focus point. Hence, the programming has been designed to ensure only good looking music videos with minimal graphics make it to viewers’ screens.
To highlight the Channel’s distinctive proposition, BBH India came up with the risqué positioning – ‘Channel V. The Shallowest Place on TV’. This, coupled with zany visuals, makes for a never-seen-before laugh riot.

Speaking about the campaign, Russell Barrett, Managing Partner and Chief Creative Officer at BBH India, said, “Channel V said they were going back to their fairly irreverent roots. They were going back to being a music channel, but a music channel with a point of view. They would only play great looking videos. Have a great song but a sh***y video? So sorry, try the next channel please. We all thought that was such a refreshing thing to say. The creative team – Sapna and Yohan – pushed that promise a little laterally and came up with ‘The shallowest place on TV’. That is such a rich, extendable thought and now we only had one more thing to do; have a blast cracking ideas. We wanted people to say damn, did they just say that? There aren’t many brands in the world that can do that, but Channel V can.”
As for Channel V’s reaction to this positioning, Barrett said, “They jumped out of their seats. Not in disbelief, but in excitement.”
When asked about how BBH came up with this creative ideation, he quipped, “Like how we come up with most ideas – by mistake!”
Arvind Krishnan, Managing Director, BBH India, added here, “Good music that looks good is a great proposition. Add a touch of irreverence to that and you get the shallowest place on TV. We had great fun collaborating with the folks at Channel V. The work is a reflection of that fun we had.”
With Indian youth being the main target, the launch marketing campaign will include a 360-degree approach, encompassing TVCs, DTH and digital.

Zee Kannada, a household name for its successful reality shows and Sa Re Ga Ma La Li’l Champs, one of the most successful shows of kannada television history is back to entertain audiences with Season 12. The show will premiere on September 17th at 7.30 pm. The show will replace the hugely popular show, Dance Karnataka Dance. Karnataka audience who enjoyed dance of various talented dance teams of Karnataka will now be entertained by the melodious voices of the Li’l Champs.
Anushree, after her successful stint at Dance Karnataka Dance, will anchor the show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs Season 12. She will be joined by Vijay Prakash, Rajesh Krishnan and Arjun janya as judges, who will mentor and nurture the best of Karnataka’s talent. The audienceswill witness the crackling chemistry between the judges and Anushree, which gained huge popularity during the previous seasons for her wit & vivacity.
The children have been picked from various auditions held across the state. Out of the 5000 kids auditioned, 15 will be chosen through mega auditions. The kids aged between 5 and 13 will battle it out for the crown of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l champs in an epic musical journey which will be a feast for the audience.
As the promos have conveyed, the season is going to be truly unique and entertaining. This season will also showcase a jury section, comprising of Karnataka’s best singers, music directors, musicians who will help the judges make the decision. What would be the role of the jury? How will this change the show? The audience will have to wait and watch on Sep 17th.
