Star Suvarna will premiere ‘Last Bus’ on 13 November at 6 pm.
Directed by SD Aravind, the movie has Avinash Narasimha Raju, Manasa Joshi and Prakash Belavadi in lead roles.
‘Last Bus’ is a psychological thriller. The movie is about six strangers who embark on the last bus in the interiors of Malnad.
Incidentally, ‘Last Bus’ is the first Kannada movie to be dubbed in French.

India News and Zee News slipped a position down, according to BARC data.

Aaj Tak continued to rule the Hindi general news genre while India TV was in the second position.

In urban HSM, ABP News has pushed Zee News to the third spot.

Premium English movie channel Sony Le Plex HD will air a new programing slot called ‘It’s 9 O’ Talk’. This will feature thematic movies and Hollywood trivia with Neha Sareen.

Starting 14 November, the show will air Monday to Friday at 9 pm.

The five different movies in ‘It’s 9 O’ Talk’ are connected through one distinct theme. Before the airing of each movie, anchor Neha Sareen will share some interesting facts and trivia revolving around these themes.

Listicles fit in with that idea of finding the common in the uncommon. It is a very popular format to drive online conversations amongst communities. We at Sony Le PLEX HD have introduced a new programing slot called ‘It’s 9 O’ Talk’, which takes the trend of conversations around listicles on air. This unconventional programing initiative will be a delight for movie lovers as it gives them reasons to have interesting conversations through the week. The themes focus on finding a unique, unexpected and unusual connection between various films, which is supplemented with interesting information – essentially, fun trivia for movie lovers to discuss with their loved ones.”

The first theme on the show is called ‘Dollars in the Diapers’. This will showcase five films starring those actors who are born with a silver spoon. It will feature films like The People vs. Larry Flynt (Edward Norton), Mortdecai (Gwyneth Paltrow), After Earth (Jaden Smith), Prisoners ( Jake Gyllenhaal) and Still Alice (Kristen Stewart).

Some of the other selected themes are ‘Bling on the Ring’ (featuring films with biggest and the best celebrity engagement rings), ‘The AD-vantage Actors’ (showcasing films of those actors who started their acting careers with ads) and ‘And The Award Doesn’t Go To’ (films featuring those actors who haven’t won an Oscar).

In sync with the Indian Government’s decision to discontinue Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes and yet to bring ease during temporary hardship to its subscribers, DishTV has introduced extended credit to customers. This is to ensure continued entertainment and news for its millions of customers across the country.  

 

DishTV has given option to its subscribers to extend payment date to recharge DishTV connections.
 

DishTV operates through more than two thousand distributers and franchises and 2.5 lac plus dealers. 100% of DishTV transactions with its direct trade partners are through electronic payment modes. Around 27% of customer recharges are through online means including mobile apps and all popular E-Wallets.
 

DishTV is also allowing temporary extension of credit for its distributors and trade partners for the next few days’ basis credit rating analysis of its customers.
These steps are aimed to bring ease to the customers and enable continuous entertainment and connectivity (with news and happenings) through easy recharge in the comfort of their homes. 

With these steps, Dish TV has minimized impact on business to less than 5% on 9th November and envisages normal business trends going forward.   

On this Mr. Jawahar Goel, Chairman & Managing Director, DishTV said “We appreciate the bold and positive move to tackle the menace of black money. YouTube Kids available for free on Google Play, App Store in India

Keeping in mind the rapid growth of kids content in India, video streaming platform YouTube has launched an app. Called YouTube Kids, it is aimed at parents as well as tech-savvy children. The app, has been launched in over 20 countries, makes it easier for children to find videos on topics they want to explore.

First debuted in the United States in February 2015 during which the ideology behind the kid-friendly YouTube app was described as, YouTube Kids app, the first Google product built from the ground up with little ones in mind. The app makes it safer and easier for children to find videos on topics they want to explore.

YouTube global head of family and learning Malik Ducard stated that the team plans to bring new guest-curated playlists from educators, celebrities, trusted names and other parents in the coming weeks.

Available for free on Google Play and App Store from today in India, the app features large images, no extra video controls, expect the play/pause, next video, and caption buttons and bold icons making it more convenient for the children. It is not yet available as a desktop version.

YouTube Kids is fast and easy to navigate and also offers voice search to let children find videos even if they cannot spell or type. The app will include content from ChuChuTV, Kids TV, the Gummy Bear song in Hindi, and a new season of Appu - The Yogic Elephant. The app also includes parental control features like what can be searched by the child, timer to limit screen time and content restriction.

The user interface features four distinct categories – shows, music, learning, and explore.

Dish TV extends credit facility to customers following govt’s demonetisation move

Direct-to-home (DTH) operator Dish TV has introduced extended credit facility to customers following the Indian government’s decision to discontinue Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes that has led to liquidity shortage in the short term.
Dish TV, which operates through more than 2,000 distributors and franchises and 250,000 dealers, has given its subscribers the option to extend payment date to recharge connections.
The company said that 100% of transactions with its direct trade partners are through electronic payment modes. Around 27% of customer recharges are through online means, including mobile apps and all popular E-Wallets.
Dish TV is also allowing temporary extension of credit to its distributors and trade partners for the next few days based on the credit rating analysis of its customers.
These steps are aimed to bring ease to the customers and enable continuous entertainment and connectivity through easy recharge in the comfort of their homes.

HTC just announced Bolt, the company’s latest smartphone in the U.S. for Sprint. It packs a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 810 processor and runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat). It has a water-resistant unibody aluminum design, 16MP rear camera camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), 0.3s Phase Detection Auto Focus and 4k video recording.

Instagram confirms it is working on Live Video

Instagram has confirmed that it is working on a Live Video feature. Kevin Systrom, Instagram CEO told the latest development to Financial Times in an interview


Live is really exciting for us. I think it can enhance what we’re doing. If I’m trying to strengthen relationships with someone I love, them streaming video to me live would be an amazing way to be closer to them.
Systrom told FT.

A report last month had stated the possibility of Instagram adding Live Video feature to the app. The live broadcasts show up alongside Stories at the top of the app. The screenshot in the report also showed a “schedule” button at the top right of the display.

Instagram’s parent app Facebook already has the Live Video feature that has become popular in a short span of time. There is no word on when the feature will arrive or how it will work on Instagram.

Videocon d2h to merge with Dish TV to create a TV distribution behemoth

In a major deal that is set to impact the broadcast sector, Videocon d2h is set to merge with Dish TV.
The board of directors of both the companies have approved a scheme of arrangement for the amalgamation of Videocon d2h into Dish TV and the execution of definitive agreements in relation to such amalgamation.
Following the closing of the proposed transaction, the merged entity will be renamed as Dish TV Videocon.
Dish TV Videocon shall issue 857.791 million shares as consideration for the scheme. The Videocon d2h shareholders shall be allotted 2.021 new shares of Dish TV Videocon for every one share held in Vd2h (subject to certain adjustments as set out in the Scheme), which would result in Dish TV shareholders owning 1,066.861 million existing shares or 55.4% of Dish TV Videocon, and Vd2h shareholders owning 857.791 million new shares or 44.6% of Dish TV Videocon.
Dish TV Videocon will be led by Jawahar Lal Goel as chairman and managing director, combining the strength of senior and operating management teams while offering further career growth opportunities for employees of the two merging companies. The Vd2h principals shall have the right to nominate two directors on the Dish TV Videocon Board, one of whom shall be Vice chairman and the other a deputy managing director.
The Proposed Transaction is expected to create a leading cable and satellite distribution platform in India.
Dish TV Videocon would serve 27.6 million net subscribers in India, as of September 30, 2016 on a pro forma basis, out of a total of 175 million TV households in India highlighting significant room for growth.
The combined entity would have revenue of Rs. 59,158 million and EBITDA2 of Rs. 18,262 million on a pro forma basis for the fiscal year ended 31 March 2016 positioning it as a leading media company in India.
The proposed transaction is expected to provide better synergies and growth opportunities and enable
Dish TV Videocon to provide differentiated and superior service to all customers through deeper after sales, distribution and technology capabilities, and also become a more effective partner for TV content providers in India.
Dish TV CMD Jawahar Goel said, “We are pleased to announce this combination at a time when the cable & satellite Industry in India is rapidly progressing on the path to digitization. This transaction, that brings together two powerhouse brands of the cable & satellite Industry in India, will provide us with a gateway to harness growth opportunities in an ultra-competitive multi player environment. This combine will enhance value for all stakeholders – Consumers, Government, Employees and Shareholders. Dish TV has been a pioneering and path breaking company which has taken the pain and responsibility of establishing many new processes, like the electronic & digital payments system that were the business need of the initial years and went on to become the industry norm of a dynamic and throbbing Industry. Now we take the next leap in our very exciting and exhilarating journey.”
Vd2h Executive Chairman Saurabh Dhoot said, “Since the commercial launch of Vd2h seven years ago, we have created a highly successful and high-growth DTH business with a solid foundation. We went public on the NASDAQ with a vision to take the company to the next level and emerge as a leading, innovative and highly profitable Indian media platform. At the close of the proposed transaction, the current promoters of Dish TV shall continue as promoters of Dish TV Videocon. The Dish TV principals are also in discussion with the Vd2h principals to purchase some of the Vd2h principals’ shares in Dish TV Videocon post the amalgamation, details of which are likely to be finalized soon.
Upon closing of the proposed transaction, Dish TV Videocon shall continue to be listed on the National Stock Exchange of India and the BSE Limited in India and on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange in the form of GDRs. In the Scheme, holders of Vd2h ADRs will receive their new shares in the form of GDRs, unless they elect to receive and hold new shares directly.
The proposed transaction remains subject to approvals, including from the Securities and Exchange Board of India, the stock exchanges, shareholders and creditors of both companies, the Competition Commission of India, the High Court of Bombay and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The Proposed Transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2017.
Morgan Stanley is acting as exclusive financial advisor to Dish TV and YES Securities (India) Limited is acting as lead financial advisor to Vd2h. The other advisors involved in the transaction are EY, SR Batliboi & Co. LLP, Luthra & Luthra Law Offices for Dish TV, and KPMG, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., and Edelweiss Capital for Vd2h. Shearman & Sterling is acting as international legal advisor to both Dish TV and Vd2h in respect of the, US federal securities law and related aspects of the Proposed Transaction.

After airing ‘Nagkanya’, free-to-air (FTA) channel Zee Anmol will launch another dubbed show ‘Bhootu’.
Zee Anmol will air the show from 14 November, Monday-Friday at 6:30 pm.
The story revolves around a five-year-old innocent ghost Bhootu played by Arshiya Mukherjee. Unaware of the fact that she is a ghost, she believes that she is a human being and wonders why she invisible to the people around her. Bhootu soon realizes that she is visible only to people who possess a good heart. Her search for companionship lands her in hilarious situations.
The original show which airs on Zee Bangla has also been dubbed in Kannada.

Demystifying the Dish TV-Videocon merger deal

MUMBAI: The merger of Videocon d2h with Dish TV will create a TV distribution behemoth, commanding a market share of over 45% in the direct-to-home (DTH) space.

Here is what you need to know about the deal:

1. Dish TV shareholders will own 55.4% of the enlarged new company. The remaining 44.6% stake in the merged entity will be with the Videocon d2h investors.

2. The Dish TV promoter holding will be 36%. Vd2h promoters will have 28%. The remaining 36% will be with the public.

3. There is an almost 34% premium to the indicative market cap of Vd2h’s Nasdaq-listed ADRs, analysts said. Dish TV indicated that the valuation was fair.

4. Size is the most attractive part of the deal. The combined subscriber base is 27.6 million, as of 30 September 2016. The merged entity becomes the second largest DTH company in the world by subscribers, behind DirecTV (37.8 mn). Out of the 145 million subscriber pay-TV market in India, the merged entity will have a 16% share.

5. The merged entity, named Dish TV Videocon, will become a leading media company by sales.
Combined revenue of Rs 5,920 crore (Rs 59.20 billion) in FY16 is higher than Zee Entertainment’s sales of Rs 5,850 crore.

6. Combined EBITDA is Rs 18,262, as of 31 March 2016. EBITDA margin is 31%.

7. Subscriber market share will be 45%, almost double the size of Tata Sky. The other private DTH operators are Airtel Digital TV, Sun Direct and Reliance Digital TV. Pubcaster Prasar Bharati runs subscription-free DTH service called Freedish.

8. The operational brands will continue – dishtv, Zing and Videocon d2h.

9. Dish TV Videocon will be led by Jawahar Goel as chairman and managing director. Saurabh Dhoot will be the deputy managing director.

10. The Vd2h principals shall have the right to nominate two directors on the Dish TV Videocon board – a vice chairman and a deputy managing director.

11. Dish TV could buy more shares from Videocon d2h in a supplementary transaction. The Dish TV principals are in discussion with the Vd2h principals to purchase some of the latter’s shares in Dish TV Videocon after the amalgamation.

12. Combined net debt is Rs 2,161 crore. Net debt to operating profit is 1.2 times.

13. Merger to lead to significant cost synergies. There will be combined sourcing and purchasing.

14. The Videocon group has extensive distribution and service expertise, with set-top box sourcing and manufacturing advantages. Dish TV has extensive media experience and content sourcing.

15. Merged entity is also expected to grow alternate revenue streams like carriage, advertising, value-added services and new channel launches. These are highly margin accretive.

16. Combined entity will have better bargaining power in stitching content deals. It will also be in a better position to take price hikes, though this will depend largely on the pay TV ecosystem.

17. Merged entity will have 2.8 million HD subscribers.

19. Upon closing of the proposed transaction, Dish TV Videocon shall continue to be listed on the NSE and the BSE in India and on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange in the form of GDRs. Holders of Vd2h ADRs will receive their new shares in the form of GDRs, unless they elect to receive and hold new shares directly.

Subscribers of the interactive services, Actve Fitness, Actve Cooking and Actve Fun Learn can watch the programmes on 13th and 14th of November at no additional cost.
The programmes have been designed specially to ensure complete enjoyment for kids, Tata Sky said.

Zoom is set to launch the second season of the Bollywood chat show, ‘Yaar Mera Superstar.’
The channel will air the new season from 12 November at 7 pm.
‘Yaar Mera Superstar’ will be hosted by RJ Sangeeta.
Hosted by RJ Sangeeta, the new season of the show will feature top Bollywood stars making candid confessions and sharing their behind-the-scenes experiences.
The first episode of ‘Yaar Mera Superstar Season 2’ will feature the cast of ‘Force 2’ including John Abraham, Sonakshi Sinha and Tahir Raj Bhasin.
The actors will be seen playing different games along with answering candid questions asked by RJ Sangeeta. The later episodes will also feature the star cast of ‘Dear Zindagi’ and ‘Kahani 2’.
