Gionee launches Pioneer P7 priced at Rs 9999
Mumbai: Chinese mobile manufactruer Gionee on Monday launched Pioneer P7 priced at Rs 9,999.
“With 4G picking up pace in the country and increasing internet penetration, we have enhanced our 4G product portfolio with Gionee P7," Deepika Singh, Director – Marketing Communications, Gionee India said in a statement.
The smartphone supports VoLTE and CDMA and comes with a 5 inch HD IPS display. It runs on Quad core 1.3GHz processor and a 2GB RAM. The phone offers a 5MP front and 8MP rear camera.
The phone has 16GB ROM expandable up to 128GB. The smartphone also has inbuilt features like text recognition in pictures, GIF creator, and intelligent photo crop. It offers a 2300 mAh battery and runs on Android OS, V6.0 Lollipop

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited plans to set up 100 4G towers next year
VISAKHAPATNAM: State-run telecom service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is planning to launch 4G services in the city soon and will also be augmenting 3G sites in rural areas.
According to sources, 60 new 3G towers have already been sanctioned for the rural areas and more than 30 3G towers are under various stages of execution. The BSNL Vizag District has also got permission to set up around 100 new 4G towers in the city.
“We are also entering the 4G space. Tenders will be floated to set up 100 4G towers in Visakhapatnam. By the end of May 2017, our 4G towers will be installed and ready for services. The department had also identified some places for setting up the towers,” a senior BSNL official from the district told TOI.
Vizag district had around 7.5 lakh mobile connections and more than 300 2G towers and over 200 3G towers. “Compared to other operators, we have lesser number of towers in the district. We know we should set up towers in certain areas. Reliance Jio, which is giving free services to customers, is our main competitor. However, people have faith in BSNL and we will win the hearts of the customers,” another senior officer said.
Once the tenders are finalised, works will begin immediately and the services will be provided to the customers soon, sources said. Presently, BSNL has around 13 wifi hotspots in the city and the number will be increased by next year, they added.
“The speed of our 3G service is better than other service providers and our plans are cheaper. So any plan from BSNL will definitely attract customers. Our corporate office is looking after the 4G services. So we can’t say anything about it, but speed will be more if 4G comes into service,” senior general manager of BSNL Nalini Verma told TOI.

Android Nougat OTA starts rolling out for Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus users in India
Few months ago, some MotoG4 and Moto G4 Plus users in Brazil had recieved the Android Nougat update, unfortunately it was later found out that it was just a soak test and that the update had not been officially released. Motorola India had also clarified on Twitter that it had not released the update yet, and when it would, users will be notified regarding the same. And now, keeping its promise of releasing the update by Q4 2016, some Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus users in India have begun to receive the update.

As per a report by Android Police, a Moto G series owner received a notification for OTA, who also confirmed with Motorola’s live chat to ensure it was an actual update and not a soak test. The customer representative from Motorola confirmed that it was an official rollout, which was being released batch wise. Therefore, as of now, the update is rolling out for just a small number of Moto G4 and G4 Plus users, however, once it starts rolling out, naturally it would soon reach all users in the series.
The Android 7.0 Nougat brings in improvements to the user experience with new multitasking features, more efficient notification controls and improved data saver and battery features. Some of the most prominent upgrades are the on-the-go Doze mode, split screen, quick app switch and direct reply feature, among others. Motorola warns users that they can not downgrade to a previous software version after installing the latest update.
In order to install the update, the first thing a user must ensure that their smartphone’s battery is at least 50 percent charged and is connected to a Wi-Fi network. Now, when a user receives a notification message for this update, follow these simple steps. Naturally, selected “Yes, I’m in”, when you are tap to run an update. After the software is downloaded, select “Install now.” Once that done, the smartphone will re-start automatically, and turn on to the updated version.
In case of users who have not received a notification message for this update, they can manually update their smartphone. Go to Settings in the apps menu, select About phone, scroll down to find System updates. Tap on that, and select ‘Yes, I’m in’. And then the process is the same as above. Additionally, with the new Android iteration, there are some new features that Lenovo-owned Motorola has brought in exclusively for the Moto users. Specific to the Moto smartphones is the new Moto action, a new feature addition to the fingerprint sensor of the Moto G4 Plus. The Moto action feature allows a user to swipe to shrink the screen. And the Moto G4 Plus fingerprint sensor feature update is a new setting to disable and enable locking the screen when the screen is on and a user touches the fingerprint sensor.
